Cherise Gautier is a character from the Chronicles of Nick book series.
About the Character[]
Cherise Gautier more fondly known as Nick’s mom, is a cook and waitress. Cherise usually works the day shifts. Her most prized possession is Nick and she never lets him forget that. There’s nothing in the world she loves more than to see his face and hear his voice. She risked everything to have him and has never once regretted it. Despite this however she can be inconsistent with how she acts regarding Nick, evidence of this is how Nick lies to his mom to protect her from having her feelings hurt regarding Nick's bullies. Cherise would also begin yelling at Nick once she got to the hospital, not even asking what happened, it only took Kyrian to plead Nick's case that she changed her mind. Regarding Kyrian's offer, she made the decision to refuse him to pay for it because "they don't accept charity" despite Nick still being a minor. Despite her believing that she has done everything for her son, she clearly hasn't as shown with the refusal as well as never taking Nick's side until he needed to stand up for himself. Before that event she wouldn't take her son's side when he would get into fights, citing for example that the school wouldn't allow that due to their strict anti bullying policy. Even with the immense love she has for her son (and the questionable ways she treats him sometimes) her actions in the story directly keep the both of them in the situation thats tearing apart the both of them, with Cherise at the stripper club, and Nick who had to deal with the bullies making fun of his mother. Even after she got a waitressing job at the Sanctuary she still didn't take Nick's side when he got into a fight protecting someone there and he had to stand up for himself.
History[]
Cherise was adopted by the Gautier's when she was a baby, her biological mother died in a car crash and her father, the last Sephiroth Jared, doesn't know she exists. However as far as she knows the Gautier's are her biological parents and doesn't know she was adopted.
When Cherise was 14 she fell pregnant with Nick after Adarian Malachai forced himself on her. Her parents gave her a choice to either give up the baby or be kicked out. She chose to remain pregnant with Nick and so was kicked out of home. She was taken in by Menyara, who helped her through the pregnancy and Nick was born on Mennie's couch. Having dropped out of High School to raise Nick, she became a stripper.
In Infinity Nick causes her to lose her job at the club and she finds one at Sanctuary as a waitress where she is currently working.
